Installation

Get CyberCage up and running in minutes with our simple installation process.

Quick Install

Install CyberCage with a single command:

curl -sSL https://get.cybercage.io | sh

This installer:

  1. Detects your operating system
  2. Downloads the CyberCage agent
  3. Sets up the agent as a background service
  4. Connects to CyberCage cloud services
  5. Begins protecting your applications immediately

What Happens During Installation

Automatic Detection

The installer automatically finds MCP-enabled applications on your machine:

  • Claude Desktop
  • VS Code with MCP extensions
  • Cursor
  • Other supported IDEs

Immediate Protection

As soon as installation completes:

  • Your applications are protected
  • Unknown MCP servers are blocked
  • Threat detection is active
  • You can manage everything from the Dashboard

System Requirements

Supported Operating Systems

  • macOS 11 or later
  • Ubuntu 20.04 or later
  • Windows 10/11

Hardware Requirements

  • Minimal: Uses less than 50MB of RAM
  • No special hardware needed
  • Works on any development machine

Network Requirements

  • Internet connection for cloud services
  • No special firewall configuration needed

Verify Installation

Check that CyberCage is running:

bash
cybercage status

You should see:

  • Agent running status
  • Number of protected applications
  • Connection to cloud services
  • Protection status

First Steps After Installation

  1. Visit the Dashboard

  2. Review Pending Servers

    • Check the MCP Catalog for any pending servers
    • Approve legitimate servers
    • Block any suspicious ones
  3. Configure Integrations (Optional)

    • Set up Slack notifications
    • Configure Microsoft Teams
    • Add webhook endpoints

Updating CyberCage

The agent updates automatically to ensure you have the latest protection. Updates are managed through the CyberCage cloud service and applied seamlessly without user intervention.

Troubleshooting Installation

Installation Failed

If installation fails:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Ensure you have appropriate permissions
  3. Try manual installation (see documentation)
  4. Contact support if issues persist

Agent Won't Start

If the agent doesn't start:

  1. Run cybercage status to verify the issue
  2. Try forcing a sync: cybercage sync --force
  3. Check system requirements and firewall settings
  4. Contact support with status output

Can't Connect to Dashboard

If you can't access the Dashboard:

  1. Verify your account credentials
  2. Check internet connectivity
  3. Try clearing browser cache
  4. Contact support if needed
